The 25 most profitable IPs in the world! 17 are derived from anime

2023-12-09

Based on the latest market information, the hot pot family has collected a ranking chart of "the 25 most profitable cultural IPs of all time". 17 of these 25 super IPs are derived from anime. At the top of the list is still the monster IP "Pokémon", whose IP revenue is as high as $90 billion. The IP was launched in 1996 and developed into a video game before building a matrix of manga, anime, figures, card games, and theme parks.

Any big move in the world of games and animation in Pokémon can create a huge social buzz. Whether it is the "Pokémon Extinction" in the game "Sword/Shield", or the animation Ash winning the Alola championship, they all easily occupy the hot search of the world's mainstream Internet platforms.

The remaining four in the top five on the list are Hello Kitty, Winnie the Pooh, Mickey Mouse, and Star Wars. Winnie the Pooh and Mickey Mouse are directly derived from the anime, but compared to the 23-year history of "Pokémon", the two of them can be called grandfathers, 95 and 91 years old respectively.

In the middle of the list, manga IPs dominate, especially Shueisha's magazine "Shonen JUMP". The magazine has given birth to a large number of excellent Japanese shonen manga IPs, such as "Demon Slayer", which has attracted much attention this year.

And excellent IPs such as "Dragon Ball", "One Piece", and "Hokuto God Fist" from Shueisha have become the best in the world-class IP. American comics also performed well, DC's Batman and Marvel's Spider-Man, as the twin walls of American comic IP, gave their owners great confidence.

Despite the fact that the DC Universe build or Sony may have failed in a copyright dispute, they are still brave enough to move forward. In contrast, the development cycle of American comic IP is relatively long. Batman is 80 years old this year, Spider-Man is 57 years old, and the three major IPs of "Youth JUMP" are only 40 years old.

Whether young or old, these IPs convey a clear message: successful animation IP is not only a symbol of an industry, but also a cultural inheritance.
